Paul Klee (1879 – 1940) was Swiss-German artist.
“klee’s act is very prestigious. In a minimum of one line he can reveal his wisdom. He is everything: profound, gentle and many more of good things, and this because: he is innovative”, wrote Oskar Schlemmer, Klee’s future artist colleague at the Bauhaus.
“The first reaction in front of Klee painting is the very pleasant discovery, what everyone of us could or could have done, to try drawing like in our childhood. Most of his composition show at the first glance a plain, valve expression, found in children’s drawing,,,, At a second analysis one can discover a technique, which takes as a basis a large maturity in thinking. …. His extreme productivity never shows evidence of repetition, as usually the case. He had so much to say, that a Klee never became an other Klee.” Marcel Duchamp 1949
